Axtell goes for boys title in C2

The Axtell Wildcats hope this is the year they bring back the school's first boys state basketball title. Axtell heads in the the C2 tournament as the number one seed after going 22-1 as they beat defending state champ Ravenna in the district final. Coach Brent Hinrichs feels the team certainly has played well up to this point. Axtell played three games at state last year while finishing fourth. Hinrichs hopes the team can lean on the experience this time around. Axtell opens up on Thursday against Dundy County Stratton who is making its first appearence at state since the merger. Benkleman hadn't been to state since 1938, and Stratton's last appearence was in 1929. Thursday's game tips off at 2pm at Lincoln Southeast.
