Pathfinder Reservoir Getting A Face Lift This Year

The Bureau of Reclamation is planning to raise the spillway two and half feet to recover the 54 - thousand acre feet to restore the storage lost to sediment accumulation in the reservoir. Under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), the Bureau of Reclamation is required to evaluate any local effects of the construction area. John Lawson, Wyoming Area Manager says the largest factor under evaluation is the historical or cultural resource effects. From a environmental perspective, Lawson says since the construction is in the spillway there will not have any effect on any endangered species or any wetland areas. The Pathfinder Modification Project is estimated to cost between a million and a half dollars to three million dollars. Lawson says construction is scheduled to begin by late summer.
