Neb. parents have access to parental powers form

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) _ The Nebraska Supreme Court's legal self-help committee has developed a free online form for parents to assign temporary parental powers to friends and relatives. The high court's Committee on Pro Se Litigation came up with the form so that parents needing others to temporarily care for their children don't have to endure the expense of hiring a lawyer to complete the process. Nebraska law allows a parent or legal guardian to designate another adult for up to six months to make important decisions on behalf of their children, such as consent to medical treatment and enrollment in school.
