Huskers win bowling crown

St. Louis, Mo. - The Nebraska bowling team captured its second tournament crown of the season, as it rolled a total pinfall of 13,083 for first place at the Griffin Invitational in St. Louis, Mo., this weekend. NU scored more than 100 pins above Arkansas State, who earned a second-place finish with a total pinfall of 12,914.

Husker senior Cassandra Leuthold notched her second first-place finish and fifth top-10 finish of the season at the Griffin Invitational. Her 218 average over the three-day tournament led Leuthold to earn Most Valuable Player honors.

While Nebraska and Arkansas State took first- and second-place honors respectively, Valparaiso earned a third-place finish (12,659), Central Missouri placed fourth (12,383) and Minnesota-Mankato placed fourth (12,062).

The Huskers will have a two-week break before heading to Baltimore, Md., for the Morgan State Invitational on Feb. 20-21.
